The GB Judo Community (GBJC)

Is a non-profit voluntary initiative started to improve judo in Britain through information and action.

  • Only after this website published detail about the 2024 Commonwealth Judo Championships did the 4 judo associations follow suit, make information available on their websites and open up for registration.

  • Only after the judo community rallied together did the BJA release free photos from the British Schools Championships that had previously cost £8 pr photo.

  • 6 months after the GB Judo Community started a petition for a public judo coach registry.  British Judo has now produced a survey.

    Complete the survey – click
  • Only by the community starting a petition for the 92 year old coach, Joe Glynn, has the BJA started to reconnect with the grassroots judo community!
See the latest about the BJA Board of Directors meeting in April!

Please sign the petition – click
  • 5 day ago the judo community was made aware that there was no “England” nation and the Union Jack was used as the symbol for those representing “GBR”.

SBE – GBJC Lead Moderator & Blogger.

It probably comes as no surprise that when the 4 judo associations in the UK (The BJA, NIJudo, JudoScotland and Welsh Judo)  had to be pushed to make information available to their members about the CJC2024 on their website.

British Press and Media coverage has not materialised.

If these 4 National Governing Bodies for Olympic Judo in Britain can’t be bothered to cover the competition on their websites, why would anybody expect the British press to cover the competition?

If you look at who the Commonwealth Judo Association Ltd Company Directors are?

You can find miore coverage about themselves than about this competition and the 2023 CJC in South Africa that was attended by several of the UK based Directors.

In fact, not one English judoka competed at the CJC in 2023.

Whether the former British Judo Association Chair, Ronnie Saez that resigned 2 years early as the BJA Chair in 2023, is attending this competition is doubtful since he had originally organised and planned to attend the EJU Gyor Veterans European Cup this weekend.

But the EJU Gyor Veteran Cup competition was cancelled due to only 5 registering and the competition clashing with the succesful local “25th Hungarian Masters Championsips”, held during the same weekend and in the same city.
