The timeline of events is simple and revealing but very disturbing now a friend of Russel Brown has been convicted of sexual assaults (2). 

A post on social media by the NIJudo Conduct & Coomplaints Officer, Peter Cuckoo, has disappeared from public view some time between Mark Spencewas charged in court and being convicted at Newry Crown Court.  

Neither of these, two employed within judo safeguarding, have responded to requests as to clarification of the coaching status of Mark Spence since his conviction, 5th July 2023.
Nor has the head of British Judo (BJA – the British Judo Association), the judo coaching certification authority in the United Kingdom.  

Despite in 2021, shortly after Jim Ferguson advertised to coach children in judo, one-on-one, [ublicly on FaceBook.

Russell Brown stated, 16th March 2021:

“PLEASE BE AWARE – WARNING – PLEASE BE AWARE – WARNING.”

“Please be aware that there are many differing forums and sites out there in the Digital Judo World, whereby individuals will advertise Judo Coaching or one-to-one coaching in any type or form.
Before anyone contacts these persons or uptakes on said offers, PLEASE ensure you contact your own region, area or countries National Governing Body to ensure that these individuals are actually valid and are a registered coach and are safe to use.

IF you do use these individuals without checking them out first, you do so at your own risk and may put your children and yourself in HARMS WAY.”
