18th April 2024 - UPDATE

The New
British Judo
Dan Grade Registry

History & Context:

The previous British Judo Association Ltd. (the BJA) Dan Grade Registry was featured on the BJA App “the Dojo” up until 2022.
It contained all current and historic Dan grade holders whether a person was a paid up member, had retired or deceased.

The Dan Grade Registry disappeared, early 2022, when the BJA switched IT supplier from Global to NEST Management and lauched the new BJA App, “Dojo-2”.

The New BJA Dan Grade Registry only lists current “paid up” members that hold a Dan Grade issued by the BJA (England), NI Judo Federation, JudoScotland and Welsh Judo.
In effect, a filtering of the 4 judo associattion’s membership databases of current paid up members.
Should a Dan grade holding member of these 4 judo associations cease to pay for membership or die, they will automatically be removed.

UPDATE:

Less than two weeks after the Judo Community petition went live, the BJA has made a U-turn and promised to add historic Dan Grades to the registry!

British Judo Association Ltd, 18th April 2024:

We have been really pleased with interest generated by the new Dan Grade Register.
Listening to your feedback, we will work to extend the Register to include past Dan Grades, with a new column and filter to show “Present” or “Past”.

This work will need to be planned in against other priorities, but you will see a growing number of past Dan Grades coming onto the Register, starting during the summer months.

In the meantime, please continue to send in issues and feedback to bja@britishjudo.org.uk

Once the Dan Registry contains the Historic Dan Grade Holders the petition will be closed!
