ALL JUDO SEMINAR – Conclusions
Updated 25 May 2023
All Judo Seminar – Conclusions
• A judo wide response is needed
• Are we prepared for a crisis as a judo family? If an issue arises in ‘another’ part of the family how do we respond?
• This is about creating a culture and standards for the entire judo family.
• The outside world is judging JUDO – not the various parts and politics that make up its various parts!
• This is about reducing risks but also much more
• Concluded we are ‘at risk’ without agreed standards and culture change and therefore need to work much better together on shared aims ambitions and goals
• Proper understanding of where we are? What are the risks?
• How are we prepared to mitigate the risks?
• Only as strong as the weakest link in this area

Despite all the pre-event statements and corporate spin, nothing has materialised since the event was held.
Whether this is due to several British Judo Directors, the CEO and BJA Managers having since been exposed in rigging a disciplinary panel in an internal BJA bullying complaint?
Or maybe the delay is due to the time spent on removing BJA website content and making public statements for the benefit of their funder, SportEngland, as having completed, 3 years ago, the obligation of all BJA clubs to have a CWO (Club Welfare Officer) while in reality, the BJA Safeguarding dept will deal with the requirement on a case-by-case basis.
Aka …… the two-tier rule system.

Multiple public BJA CEO briefing documents have been published in the GBJC FaceBook group, including many safeguarding cases.

Including the background to why BJA clubs are now required to have a CWO (club welfare officer), to remain BJA affiliated, March/April 2023 deadline.
Along with the urgent need for public judo coach registries, operated independently outside the judo association’s and their funders remit.
