According to sources, the “unforeseen circumstances” for cancelling this event was due to officials being unhappy about the Covid Health & Safety arrangements at the English Closed Championships just the previous weekend, 4 September 2021.
The English Closed Championships had also been affected by “unforeseen circumstances” that later turned out to be BJA Head Office making the event announcement before the venue had confirmed both days being possible!
The day after this competition, 5 September, a judo club who’s members had attended the competition shut down for a week due to
“…..a recent outbreak of COVID within the club……..”!
