BJA age group change 2023. Minors, Pre-Cadets, Cadets & Juniors

Age group Change – British Judo

Verify with your organisation!

British Judo, the BJA, usually changes age groups 1st September every year.
This differs from the EJU (European Judo Union) and the IJF (International Judo Federation).
Besides impacting on what age group youth compete in, there are also competition rule differences that are important.  Particularly when moving into Cadets.
See the anticipated new age groups and possible competitions affected in the immediate future, below.
See also British Judo Rankings for the changes being implemented.

To verify when your judo association changes age groups:

British Judo: UK / England

NiJudo:  Northern Ireland

JudoScotland:  Scotland

WJA: Wales
